Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, carried out inspections in the Kune Vain area of Lezhë and in Dhërmi to oversee the implementation of the normative act requiring hospitality structures to install wastewater treatment systems.
Kune Vain is among the first units to have installed such a system, which separates waste and reuses treated water for irrigation. In Dhërmi, where 190 businesses are affected by this regulation, hotels and accommodation structures have already started installing treatment plants ahead of the upcoming tourist season.
The inspections were monitored by the Task Force, led by our team, which is responsible for ensuring compliance with the regulation and supporting businesses during the implementation phase. Minister Balluku praised the cooperation of the hospitality sector, underlining that the treatment of wastewater directly improves service quality and strengthens Albania's positioning as a sustainable tourism destination.
The initiative is aligned with European standards, with the goal of increasing the share of bathing waters in Albania rated as "excellent" from 67.5% to 95% in the coming years.
