Overview

The Memaliaj Water Supply Project represents a strategic investment aimed at improving the reliability, efficiency, and safety of water supply services for the citizens of Memaliaj. The project addressed one of the most critical issues in the city's infrastructure — the replacement of the deteriorated transmission line between the Bambull Pumping Station and the Memaliaj Reservoir, which had long been unable to meet the required standards of continuous and quality water delivery.

With the new transmission line in place, Memaliaj now benefits from 24-hour uninterrupted water supply, ensuring both adequate pressure and water quality in full compliance with national standards and European Union directives. This marks a significant step forward in modernizing the city's hydraulic infrastructure, securing a more sustainable and reliable service for residents.

Beyond the transmission network, the project also included the installation of dedicated water meter cabinets for 32 apartment buildings across the city. This component is essential not only for improving consumption monitoring and billing accuracy but also for encouraging responsible water use and reducing overall system losses.

Key Works Completed under the Project

  • Comprehensive technical excavations for the extension and layout of the new water transmission network.
  • Installation of high-quality PE (polyethylene) pipes and hydraulic fittings, ensuring durability and resilience.
  • Strategic placement of apartment water meters and key metering points within the distribution system.
  • Advanced topographic and geodetic surveying, guaranteeing precise alignment, positioning, and leveling.
  • Construction of masonry structures and implementation of protective measures to safeguard the infrastructure.
  • Full testing, commissioning, and calibration of the system, verifying functionality and compliance with technical standards.
  • Environmental rehabilitation of impacted areas, restoring the urban and natural landscape to its original state.

As a result of these interventions, the Memaliaj water supply network is now fully functional and prepared to serve the community with reliability, efficiency, and sustainability. The project not only improves daily life for citizens by guaranteeing a stable supply of safe drinking water, but it also strengthens local infrastructure, aligning with Albania's broader objectives for modernization and compliance with EU standards.

Through this project, iSec reaffirms its role as a leader in hydrotechnical engineering and infrastructure development, delivering solutions that combine technical excellence, long-term sustainability, and social impact.
