Objective

The primary goal of this project was to enhance the security of 143 water reservoirs across the Fier region, ensuring a safe and reliable supply of drinking water for local communities. By combining advanced engineering solutions with state-of-the-art monitoring technologies, the initiative became a benchmark project for critical water infrastructure protection in Albania.

Key Purpose

Increase the security level of water sources and reservoirs serving urban and rural communities. Implement modern fencing and surveillance systems to safeguard against unauthorized access and potential threats.

Technical Solutions Implemented

  • Level I: Applied to facilities supplying more than 5,000 residents.

  • Level II: Applied to facilities supplying fewer than 5,000 residents.
  • Surveillance Systems
  • Grid-powered CCTV cameras for sites with existing electrical infrastructure.
  • Solar-powered CCTV cameras for remote areas lacking grid access, ensuring continuous monitoring without interruptions.

Execution Process

1. Physical Protection

  • Build concrete strip fences.
  • Install metal railings and panel fencing.

2. Monitoring System Installation

  • Deploy solar-powered or standard cameras with 4G.
  • Equip cameras with Full HD, internal memory, and autonomous operation.

3. Intelligent Functionality

  • Motion detection and perimeter alerts.
  • Reduce false alarms with smart algorithms.

4. Central Management

  • Integrate all systems into a central monitoring point.
  • Enable live viewing, playback, and video backup.

5. Project Coverage

  • Secure 143 water sources and reservoirs.
  • Document works with photos of fences, panels, and cameras.

Impact

The Fier Water Security Project has significantly strengthened the resilience of Albania's water supply infrastructure.
