PROJECT SCOPE

Security Implementation

YEAR / DURATION

2023

Overview

The project's main objective was to enhance the security of 87 water reservoirs in the Durrës region, by combining engineering solutions with modern monitoring technologies. This investment carries strategic importance, ensuring a safe and sustainable supply of drinking water for the local community, while also serving as a successful model for the protection of critical infrastructure.

Initial Situation

  • Minimal and damaged fencing.
  • Lack of security systems and surveillance cameras.
  • Unprotected access points and entry doors.
  • Hygiene and sanitary conditions below standards, easily accessible by unauthorized persons.

Works Performed

  • Installation of new fencing according to Level I and Level II typologies.
  • Deployment of surveillance systems using both electric power and solar panels for areas without energy access.
  • Implementation of access control systems, restricting entry and exit to authorized personnel only.
  • Infrastructure reinforcements for doors, windows, and control points.

Results

  • Enhanced and sustainable security of water resources.
  • Significant reduction of unauthorized interventions.
  • Improvement of hygiene and sanitary standards.
  • 24/7 monitoring through a dedicated control room, equipped with modern technology, ensuring continuous supervision and a safe drinking water supply for the city.

Geographical Scope of the Project

The map presents the geographical scope of the project, identifying 87 points (water sources and reservoirs) under the administration of SHR UK Durrës, all of which have been fenced and secured as part of this project.

Each point on the map represents a reservoir where concrete interventions were carried out, including:

  • Concrete strip fencing,
  • Metal railings or panel fencing,
  • And, where applicable, installation of monitoring systems.

Through this project, water supply and sewage infrastructure are now secure, monitored, and operationally resilient. iSec's approach demonstrates the ability to deliver large-scale, high-security solutions that integrate engineering, technology, and operational management while ensuring public safety and service continuity.
